Kai Girard constructs wooden furniture for various applications in household or business environments. He graduated from California State University of Long Beach in 2022 with a B.A. in technical theatre. Originally pursuing a career in theatrical scenic carpentry, he soon became bothered by the wasteful nature and negative environmental impact of building sets which are used for a short time before being disposed of. He decided to follow his passion for the material of wood and the craft associated with it to create useful objects which can survive to serve multiple generations and create numerous memories. Currently, Kai works as a self-employed woodworker with a small workshop in Richmond, California. He utilizes many of the skills from his technical theatre schooling and his time working as a cabinet maker during the COVID19 pandemic to bring his furniture designs into reality, aiming to create objects which are functional, beautiful, and durable.
